Mindful Art Connection
Mindful art is a term I use to describe creating from being in a place of mental stillness, resonating with the present, expressing the within.
Mindful creativity is important because the process of creating allows thoughts, feelings, and emotions to transfer into physical form. This can be an integral mindful practice that honors the self by encouraging attentiveness and allowing space for various layers of the self to be experienced. By "layers of the self," I mean the different aspects of our identity, character, emotions, and experiences that makes us who we are. This practice and process can build and strengthen awareness of not only ourselves, but of others.
What is the goal of this process? It's up to you! The intention could be to allow what may be difficult to communicate in words to be expressed through the creative process. To be present for yourself. To relax or relieve anxiety. To evolve into a deeper understanding of self or, the goal could simply be to create because you enjoy creating. Either way, set your intention and see it through. Once you've completed your creation, be mindful of how you feel and what you've learned throughout the process. Take some time to journal your thoughts about how you've grown and/or new techniques or best practices you've aquired. You may be suprised by what and how much you learn about yourself and others throughout your creative journey.
